Association Mondiale des Anciennes du Sacré Coeur
The Association is a member of AMASC (Association Mondiale des Anciennes
du Sacré Coeur). AMASC was formed in 1960 in Brussels at the request
of the then Reverend Mother General, Reverend Mother de Valon, who saw
an important and vital role the alumnae could play in fostering the work
and spirit of the Society of the Sacred Heart (the Catholic Order of Nuns
founded by St Madeleine Sophie Barat in the early 1800's).
Every four years the alumnae of the world meet for a Congress.
The XII World Congress was held in Sydney, Australia, 14–19
April 2002. The theme of the Congress was Reconciliation: Matters
of the Heart & Reconciling ourselves with our world.
