What is the UniBreak Program?
The UniBreak Program is ideal for students who want to make the most of their Uni holiday time and

sustainable development and experience life in a culture and environment very different to their own.
  • 4 week placements (longer if desired)
  • Placements are available in countries such as the Maldives, Mauritius, Borneo, Cambodia,

Student Experience
“With all the opportunities that I have in a Western country, I think I am one of the luckiest people alive.
Saying that, I have so much to offer, so being part of a team that aimed to deliver basic health education
to families in dire need, was a good place to start. The best part of working with Antipodeans Abroad was
seeing the joy that simple measures, such as soap, can bring to people’s lives. You are humbled beyond
belief when you realise what these people survive on, like the mothers who look after 7 children with no
income, they are the real heroines.Alice Manchon, University of Queensland, Four week Health placement
“My experience on placement has reinforced that I am in the right career; following my passion. Having the chance to work in a Special Education school in Thailand has made me recognise the pros and cons of working in that stream of education. I was involved in teaching 5 days a week. I think the workload was perfect. I think it is fantastic that Antipodeans Abroad organises the work prior to arriving to ensure time is not wasted.” - Carly, UniBreak Student, RMIT University Melbourne, Primary Education Placement, Thailand
“I chose a UniBreak placement to experience the true lives of people in developing countries and understand the problems they face every day. And consequently, to help think of ideas and fix those problems. I assisted in a day care centre for one week and then taught English and maths at a school for the remaining weeks. I also ran the resource centre before and after school to supplement the children’s learning. The workplace was somewhat inadequate in terms of resources and support, but I used my initiative and managed quite well.”
- James, Development Placement UniBreak Student, UNSW, Nepal
