Orientation
Student Life

Moving into Sancta – and perhaps to university – may be a considerable transition from what you are used to. At Sancta we understand you may need time to adjust and settle into new surroundings and the orientation program is designed with this in mind.
Sancta Orientation occurs a week before the commencement of lectures and usually fits in well with all university orientation programs.
Upon arrival at the College, parents and students are invited to attend lunch in the Dining Hall. This offers the opportunity for you and your parents to meet the Principal, Vice-Principal, and other College staff members.
The Orientation Committee comprises Second and Third Year students (Sophomores and Seniors). The Orientation Committee are available to advise and provide information to first year students related to timetables, textbooks, lecture locations and social events.
All University of Sydney students are invited to attend the Chancellor’s welcome at the University’s Great Hall and explore the main campus and the many stalls and information booths, and join clubs and societies.
Orientation week is an opportune time for you to meet all the new students at Sancta and at other University of Sydney Residential Colleges. Student organisers from Sancta liaise with the other colleges to organise a full program of social events.
Some of these activities include a barbeque lunch at Women’s College, formal dinner at St. John’s College, breakfast at Wesley College, a Sydney Harbour Cruise with St. Andrew’s College, and a party at St. Paul’s College.
