Orientation – Sancta and the University

O-Week FreshersOrientation occurs a week before the commencement of lectures on the main campus of The University.

Upon arrival at the College, parents and students are invited to attend lunch in the College Dining Room. Parents and students will be able to meet the College Principal, Vice-Principal and College staff members.

The Orientation Committee comprises Second and Third Year students (Sophomores and Seniors). During the week the Orientation Committee are available to advise and provide information to first year students related to timetables, textbooks, lecture locations and social events.

During the week all students are invited to attend the Chancellor's welcome at the Great Hall of the University of Sydney. Students are able to stroll by the main campus stalls and join clubs and societies of their choice.

‘Twilight Party’ in the Sancta QuadrangleOrientation week is an opportune time to meet all the new students at Sancta and the other University of Sydney residential Colleges. Student organisers from Sancta liaise with the other University colleges to organise a full program of social events. Some of these activities include a barbeque lunch at Women's College, formal dinner at St. John's College, breakfast at Wesley College, a Sydney Harbour Cruise with St. Andrew's College, and a party at St. Paul's College. Sancta Sophia hosts a ‘Twilight Party’ in their quadrangle.

Orientation week is an opportunity for Sancta residents to settle in their new environment. It is an exciting and interesting time for students to view all that the University has to offer.
