Sancta Sophia College was founded to expand access to university for women, particularly those coming to Sydney from regional, rural and remote communities across NSW. That sense of opportunity and belonging continues to shape the College today, both in our undergraduate community and in the welcoming residential environment we offer postgraduate students.
Whether you are applying as an undergraduate, a postgraduate, or at another point in your university journey, applying to Sancta is the first step in finding your place within College life.
Who can apply?
Applications to live at Sancta are encouraged from domestic and international students studying (or intending to study) at the University of Sydney, and fitting one of the following categories:
- High School students (female only)
- Undergraduate students (female only)
- Postgraduate and Honours students (female/male/other)
- Exchange students (female undergraduate students and female/male/other postgraduate students)
From 2027, Sancta will admit only students who are 18 years of age or older at the time of Commencement, which for the 2027 academic year is Saturday 13 February 2027. This represents a change from previous years in which small numbers of students commenced at 17 and turned 18 during their first year.
When to apply
Students apply to Sancta in the year before they intend to commence residence. For students seeking Semester 2 entry, applications open early in the same year, subject to availability. As places are limited and demand is high, we encourage applicants to apply as early as possible. You do not need to wait until you have received confirmation of your university enrolment before submitting your application.
Undergraduate entry for 2027
Applications for 2027 (full year) are open now and close on Friday 31 July 2026.
Postgraduate entry for 2027
Applications for 2027 (full year) open on Saturday 1 August 2026 and close on Monday 30 November 2026.
How to apply
Step 1: Complete the online application form
Submit your application online and upload any supporting documentation as part of the process. You can save your progress and return to it later. When scholarship applications are open, a scholarship application section is included within the same form.
Step 2: Attend a personal interview
After your submitted application has been reviewed, you may be invited to attend a personal interview with Principal or Vice Principal. We will contact you via email to update you on the status of your application. Interviews may take place at the College or online via video call.
Step 3: Receive an offer
If your application is successful and a place is available, you will receive an offer to live at Sancta. If you apply before receiving your university offer or enrolment confirmation, you may receive a conditional offer of entry to Sancta.
Step 4: Accept your offer
Successful applicants will be notified via email that they have received an offer of entry to Sancta. This email will include instructions on how to respond to your offer through the Student Portal. If you accept your offer, you will be asked to sign your agreement with the College and pay your Enrolment and Commitment Fee.
