Former Sancta Principal Dr Marie Leech has been recognised as an Honorary Fellow of the University of Sydney in acknowledgement of her significant contributions to the University and Australian social policy over more than three decades. During her time as Principal of Sancta from 2008 to 2017, Dr Leech led a period of growth for the College, including the development of Graduate House and new academic and career initiatives.

Congratulations to Dr Marie Leech, former Principal of Sancta (2008-2017), for being recognised as an Honorary Fellow of the University of Sydney. This prestigious honour, conferred during a graduation ceremony in October 2024 at the University’s Great Hall, acknowledges Dr Leech’s “significant contributions to the interests and welfare of the University over three decades, and her contributions to social policy in Australia.”

Dr Leech’s career has been defined by her commitment to social justice and improving Australian social policy, holding impactful roles across many not-for-profit organisations, including Mission Australia. As Principal of Sancta, she guided a period of growth for the College, introducing new academic and career programs and overseeing the construction of our Graduate House.
