Lucy’s Road to Sancta
I chose to study in Sydney and live at Sancta because of all the opportunities it could give me. I was able to meet and network with a range of people from different backgrounds and interests while living in a safe and supportive community.

Best thing about Sydney
The best thing about Sydney is all the new experiences you get to make with your new friends.

Best thing about Sancta
My favourite thing about Sancta was all the events that took place! From Welcome Week to Semi-Formal, all these events made Sancta so much fun and provided me with amazing memories.

Standout memory of Sancta
My best memory of Sancta is the 2018 Recovery Day which resulted in the quad turning into an absolute mud pit!

How did you get involved in the community?
I got involved in leadership roles including Sophomore Representative in my second year, and Honorary Treasurer in my final year. In these roles I was able to become closer to students in other year groups and also give back to the Sancta community.

What was the hardest adjustment you had to make?
The hardest adjustment was leaving home for the first time and living in a new environment. It was overwhelming at first but the support I received from those around me at Sancta made it easy to feel at home.

Advice for future students choosing to live at Sancta
Take advantage of all the opportunities Sancta has to offer! Apply to be a part of the Students’ Association sub-committees and trial out for the sports teams. Each time you do you are only making your experience better!

Homesickness, culture shock and anxiety are common experiences for many students living on-campus. How did you manage this aspect of your experience at Sancta?
I managed homesickness by putting my phone away and living in the moment with my friends. This is a great tactic for Welcome Week.

If you could sum up Sancta in a few words, what would you say?
Sancta was the three best years of my life. I have no regrets whatsoever!

Message to the Sancta community
Make the most of the time you have at Sancta!
