Garima Kaushik wants other young alumni to know that together, you can have a huge impact on the lives of future students.

Garima joined Sancta from India as a Postgraduate in 2015 to complete her Master of Education at The University of Sydney. She is now a teacher within the NSW Department of Education working in a large secondary school with complex academic and behavioural challenges. Her passion for education is inspiring. She has established a scholarship for future Indian postgraduate students to live at Sancta, recognising the transformative impact of her time at Sancta. Garima is calling out to other alumni to support her scholarship.

“This project is important to me because I was raised by a single mum and my dad abandoned us because I wasn’t born a boy. Through striving hard in my studies, I won scholarships at school and in university to become an Australian educator in English which is my second language.

“I believe education is the biggest gift we can give to young people, and it is one of the most important ways to fight poverty, stereotypes and discrimination. India is an emerging economy with a lot of emphasis on education. We need to join hands and contribute to the dreams of some very capable, young people to experience life at Sancta and embark on their education journey in a protected, safe, and caring environment at Sancta.”
