A Message from Cathleen Crossley, Chair of the Sancta Sophia College Council
The College Council is pleased to advise that we have appointed Brigid Carrigan as the new Vice Principal of the College, commencing on 16 July 2018.
Brigid takes over from Maryanne Pidcock who concludes her time at Sancta at the end of June after four years of dedicated service to our community.
We very much look forward to the skills, experience and passion that Brigid will bring to Sancta.
Brigid grew up on a farm near the Upper Hunter town of Merriwa. After finishing her secondary education, she resided at Sancta and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Sydney in 1985.
In 1988, Brigid moved to South Australia to further her qualifications and completed a Diploma in Education from the University of Adelaide. She was offered her first role as Lead Teacher in Religious Education at Loreto College, Adelaide.
With the prohibitive distance to visit the Upper Hunter and Sydney, Brigid accepted a Lead Teacher position at Mount Erin High School in Wagga Wagga to be closer to family and friends. In those years, she married her husband John and had their two children Elizabeth and Patrick.
In 2002, Brigid was offered a teaching position at St Matthews Catholic School in Mudgee, and has over the ensuing years held a range of leadership positions at that school. Also in that time, Brigid completed a Masters in Educational Leadership from the Australian Catholic University.
Brigid looks forward to being part of the Sancta community and will be accompanied by her husband John and their dog Lewis.
