Frequently asked questions
Should I apply to Sancta before attending Open Day?
Yes. If you are considering living at Sancta next year, we strongly encourage you to apply to Sancta before attending Open Day, especially if you are a Year 12 student. Demand for places is high and waiting until after Open Day may limit your chances. Applying early also gives you the chance to ask questions about your application directly with our staff or student ambassadors on the day.
I’m in Year 11. Should I attend Open Day?
Yes. Open Day is a great opportunity for Year 11 students. With demand for a place at Sancta growing each year, many Year 12 students find that Open Day comes too late in the year. Attending in Year 11 means you’ll be well informed and ready to apply early when applications open in April next year.
How do I get to Sancta?
We are located at 8 Missenden Road, Camperdown, on the corner edge of the University of Sydney Campus near RPA Hospital. We’re easy to reach by public transport, or on foot.
On Foot
If you’re already on the University of Sydney campus, Sancta is a short walk from the Quadrangle and Eastern Avenue. Follow signs to the School of Veterinary Science, the Charles Perkins Centre or RPA Hospital. You can access Sancta either via Missenden Road or from St John’s Oval near the Charles Perkins Centre.
If you’re coming from UTS or Notre Dame, you can walk towards Sancta via Broadway and Parramatta Road. However, we recommend catching a bus for a faster and easier trip.
By Train
Catch a train to either Macdonaldtown Station or Central Station. From Macdonaldtown, it’s around a 15-minute walk to Sancta via Burren and Bucknell Streets. From Central (Railway Square), you can take a direct bus along Parramatta Road or Missenden Road.

Restricted street parking is available on Missenden Road and adjacent streets, however spaces are limited and can fill up quickly on Open Day. Anyone considering applying to live at Sancta in 2026, 2027 or beyond. This includes female students in Year 11 or Year 12, female undergraduate students, and female and male postgraduate students. Families and friends are encouraged to come along, too.
Do I need to register to attend?

Can I tour Sancta another time if I can’t make it to Open Day?
Yes, you can book a personal tour for a time that suits you. Learn more here.
We also host regular online information sessions for future undergraduate residents called Virtual Dinners. Our next Virtual Dinner is on Tuesday 29 July 2025. Register to attend here.
How much time should I allocate for my visit to Sancta?
We recommend setting aside at least 50 minutes for your visit to Sancta on Open Day. This allows enough time to take a guided tour, chat with student ambassadors, and ask any questions you may have. If you would like to stay for lunch or spend more time exploring, you are welcome to stay longer.
Will I be able to see what the rooms are like?
Yes. Your guided tour will include a look at all available room types at Sancta. This includes our single and twin share rooms with shared bathrooms in Heritage Building, and our ensuite rooms in Graduate House.
What do I do when I arrive at Sancta?
When you arrive, follow the signs to our main foyer inside Heritage Building. Our student ambassadors will be there to welcome you, answer any questions, and help you join the next available guided tour.
Do I need to attend a tour at a specific time?
No. Guided tours will run regularly throughout the day between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. You can join the next available tour when you arrive.
Can I bring my family or friends with me?
Yes. Everyone is welcome, and we encourage you to bring a parent, guardian or friend. Open Day is a great opportunity for them to learn more about Sancta too. Only the main prospective student needs to register, but if your guests would also like to receive updates and information directly, they are welcome to register separately.
